Thoughtcast #1

Hey gang, Peter here.

Anthony (our new hire who started a week before Lockdown!) and I have been working hard over the past couple of weeks to get our online store up and running. We've got some big updates for you this week regarding shipping, new stock, and our TCG Singles. Let's get straight into it!

Shipping

Starting Monday (11th May, 2020), we'll be able to ship our full range of products all over the North Island! While South Island fans will have to wait a bit longer for board games and accessories, we'll still be able to ship TCG Singles to you for the time being :)

Our current shipping rates are as follows:

TCG Singles

Local (Kapiti Area) - Free

Nationwide - $3.50

Sealed Product (board games, booster packs, etc.)

Local (Kapiti Area) - Free

Lower North Island - $6.50

Upper North Island - $10.00

Two important things to note about our current shipping situation:

1) Yes, the rates are a bit darer than we'd like. We moved fast to get shipping implemented, and thus didn't do it in the most efficient way. Once we work out a more optimised shipping system, we'll be passing the savings along to you :)

2) While local delivery is currently free during Alert Level 3, this will change once Calico Keep is open to the public again under Alert Level 2. Once this happens, local hobby fiends can either pay $6.50 for local delivery (subject to change as per the point above), or pick their order up from our store during opening hours for free.

New Stock

Can you believe that our last board game restock was in mid-February?!

Our latest shipment more than makes up for it! Highlights among returning favourites include Azul, Cards Against Humanity, Caverna: Cave vs Cave, Coup (and its expansion, Coup Reformation), Imploding Kittens, King of Tokyo: Power Up!, and Catan Junior!

"Boring," I hear you say; "What about the new new stuff?"

Newcomers gracing our shelves include Azul: Summer Pavilion, Codenames Duet, Colt Express, Love Letter Premium, Sheriff of Nottingham 2nd Edition, and two Unstable Unicorns expansions; Dragon, and Rainbow Apocalypse!

What's that? Still not satisfied? If you're looking for something heartier to sing your teeth into, then we've also brought in single copies of Food Chain Magnate and Twilight Imperium 4th Edition... but don't bite off more than you can chew!

Aside from board games, some strange packages appeared on my driveway the other night... What could be inside? Maybe we'll find out next week... (Yeah, I know you guys have already figured it out, but I'm gonna be coy about it anyway!)

TCG Singles

And finally, Anthony and I have gone through the trouble of alphabetising and cataloging about 40,000 Magic: the Gathering and Flesh & Blood Singles for you to view on the website. Never again will you have to ask us if we have a particular card in stock! It's all there on the website :)

Not only that, but you can now sell us your MTG Singles through the site as well! Just select 'Buylist' on the bar at the top and start putting your singles in. Once you're finished, we'll get in touch to organise the collection of your singles and start grading them. You can even see how much cash or store credit you'll get for your cards before you submit your list!

On the Desktop site, you'll see a little 'Decklist' tab on the right side of the screen. If you throw a correctly formatted Decklist into the text window, our site will automatically pull the cheapest available versions of the cards on your list and add them to your cart! Deck-building made easy :)

That's all for now!

Following tomorrow's cabinet meeting (Monday, 11th May 2020), we'll all have a clearer picture as to when we'll be de-escalating down to Alert Level 2. Once we have that information we'll be sure to let you know what it means for us and our ability to support your favourite hobbies. Until then, we'll be busy making sure that your favourite hobbies get to you, no matter where you are.

Stay safe,

Peter
